Palm Springs

This past weekend Ben and I spent it in Palm Springs. It was wonderful! This was my graduation present to Ben, a weekend of relaxing, sleeping, eating and doing whatever he wanted. It was great. My parents watched Sam and Harrison and they had a great time. Harrison was a little sad to come home and come back to reality. However, when we got them on Sunday Harrison said to Ben and I "I really missed you guys". It made me happy I missed him too. Here's a quick recap of our weekend.

Thursday afternoon/evening we arrived and hit the Palm Springs street fair. There we witnessed a marvel, a great site, a phenomenon. A woman who was a photo negative! She was overly tan with bleach blonde hair. She was probably in her 40's but looked to be in her 70's with all the skin cancer, I mean tanning, she had going on. Ben and I had a good laugh.

Friday morning a new A/C was delivered and installed at the condo. Thanks mom and dad, it was 100 degrees all weekend so we were happy to have it. The old one died last time my parents were there so a new one was installed while Ben and I were there. This is a picture of the crane lifting the old unit off the roof of the condo.
Friday afternoon we went and saw Ironman. It was so fun! We lounged on leather seats in the theater, well I layed down on them, and ate popcorn. We had free movie tickets and concession stand tickets from Ben's emplyer SMCI from his birthday. It was great! That night we went to dinner at Fisherman's Market in Palm Springs. Ben had fish kebabs and loved them, I had grilled shrimp and loved those. We got to hear about a woman's encounter with a psychic, a pool and the Middle Eastern man who is to be the love of her life, but with ruin her life. Famous line from that night "I just cant have Romeo, so I'll settle for someone else."

There are some characters in Palm Springs and I think we ran into all of them this weekend.

Saturday we lounged by the pool and had lunch at Tylers, our favorite burger place. It is awesome. I've never had a better cheeseburger, colesalw, egg salad sandwich, potato salad, etc. Everything is awesome. Worth the wait. While there we got to hear a man call to his friend David, across the street. The story involved letting everyone in the place know the David's bank account balance $400.60, the fact that David hasnt been home in weeks and Debra is worried, and the fact that David is ruining his life and he knows about it. But dont worry everybody, this man is buying David a dog because he needs something to love since he cant love himself. Whew, I was worried. Actually I am, for the dog. After lunch we bought the Indiana Jones Trilogy and watched the first one that night while I kicked Ben's bumb at Sequence.
Sunday we packed up, cleaned up and headed home. It was so fun to be together and reconnect. We had been on stress mode around here for quite awhile. Especially these last two semesters. We are now looking forward to the arrival of our baby and seeing what life holds in store for us next.

Baby Update

This morning I went to the OB to check on how the baby is doing. My belly measurements have doubled in size in 13 days. Yipee! Sam and Harrison came with me and got to hear the baby's heartbeat, Harrison was intrigued; Sam sucked his thumb and twirled his hair. The Dr. then let the boys hear their heartbeats. Again, Harrison was intrigued and Sam sucked his thumb and twirled his hair. We talked about inducing and I am schedule for Wednesday July 2nd. This could change as we get closer. I am happy to know that the baby is getting bigger and bigger, I love my big babies and I have a feeling this one is going to be the biggest yet.

Picture Project

This is the quote I have on the boys frame that is hanging in their room. I love it!

A few months ago I had some pictures of the boys enlarged and have been wanting to frame them for some time. I have been thinking about how to frame them, looking at what I already have and wanting to go about the cheapest way possible. I had some frames from Ikea that had pictures of food in them I have hanging in my kitchen. I have been wanting to get rid of them for awhile. Yesterday everything clicked and I decided to scrapbook the empty spaces on the frames. I am really happy with the results. I like it because its like having a framed scrapbook page. I have a few more pictures of the boys to do, so I am now on the look out for more of these HUGE frames. I think a trip to Ikea is in my future, oh darn.....=) It obviously is the only thing that makes the most sense since this is where I originally got these frames 7 years ago. They will still have them right? Well, I'll just have to go look.

This frame hangs in the kitchen. It is of the boys eating grandma's sauce which is famous in our family. Manga means eat in Italian.

Dinner at the Beach

Last night Ben rode his bike down through Sycamore Canyon to the beach for a Young Mens activity. Ben is the Secretary in the Priest Quorum. I met him down at the bottom with the kids and we had hot dogs, chips and smore's for dinner. The boys had a great time, some went surfing and others just ran around eating, getting dirty and talking about T.V shows and Pink Floyd. Sam and Harrison had a great time and loved getting dirty. Here's a few pics. Sam doesnt have a black eye, he's just super dirty.

Ben's Graduation

On Saturday Ben graduated from CSUCI with his degree in Mathematics. I am so proud of him and he has set such a great example for our boys. He has been such and great father and husband while pursing his degree, working full time and keeping up with all the other daily tasks he is responsible for. We are so excited to have Ben home at night and available on the weekends for outings, day trips or just hanging out. We had a wonderful day on Saturday at the graduation and had so much fun with family and friends afterwards for a party. Below are links to the pics from the graduation. They are the same ones I have sent out to the family.

I'm sorry, my baby is how big?

Ben and I went to the Dr. yesterday to have an ultrasound and see our baby! We were so excited and curious about the size of the baby. I have been feeling him all over, but know that he is quickly running out of room. When I was pregnant with Sam I asked to be induced at 38 weeks. At 38 weeks Sam was 9lbs 4 oz. I asked my Dr. if this baby would be that size at 38 weeks. He said probably bigger. Yikes!
So I am currently 31 weeks along. I have 9 weeks left in my pregnancy. My Dr. told me that babies at 31 weeks weigh 3lbs 13oz. Well our baby is 4lbs 9oz at 31 weeks! The baby will continue to grow an average of 8oz a week from here to my due date. I am glad he is thriving, especially since I keep getting head cold, ear infections and the flu this pregnancy. I am excited to have a big baby again, they sleep well, feed well and I dont feel like I am going to break them. Ben did the math, because he's a genius, and told me that the baby will be around 10lbs at 40 weeks. Yikes. I hope my body can handle that. We didnt get any great pics from the ultrasound, this is baby's ultrasound pic when we found out he was a boy. Baby was so smashed in there he had no room to move or wiggle. However we were able to get a few measurements. His head is HUGE, nice round Charlie Brown shape, his thigh bone is 3in long and his spine looks very nice. Kidney's are great, organs looks good, the Dr. said he looks wonderful. I cant wait for him to come. Harrison is so excited and asks me everyday "are we going to the hosbitable to hav a baby today?" He's always very sad when I say no. Sam is in denial or his typical state of I dont hear you, I dont know what you are talking about, let me change the subject. We'll see how that goes. Ben and I are excited and cant wait to have another boy around here.
